Edison Partners Named Top Fintech Equity Investor

PRINCETON, NJ – APRIL 10, 2019—Edison Partners, the growth equity investment firm, has been named the Top Fintech Equity Investor for the second year in a row by LendIt Fintech. The LendIt Fintech Industry Award 2019 is given to the venture capital or private equity firm that has invested in a range of successful fintech companies and contributed to the industry's vision.

 

In 2018, Edison Partners closed its ninth fund, Fund IX, at $365 million, approximately 40 percent of Fund IX is allocated to Fintech investments. Edison VII and VIII, 2010 and 2015 vintages, respectively, are top-quartile performers as measured by third-party industry benchmarks.

Recent highlights

Bento for Business, an investment led by General Partner Michael Kopelman in June 2018, was recently named a small business fintech trend to watch in the CB Insights’ U.S. Small Business FinTech Report.

 

MoneyLion, a personal finance management platform, and an investment led by Sugden, was named a finalist for the LendIt Fintech 2019 Excellence in Financial Inclusion award. Last year, MoneyLion was recognized as the Top Emerging Technology Company in 2018 by LendIt Fintech.

 

In 2018, Jennifer Lee, Vice President at Edison Partners, was named to WSJ Pro Private Equity’s Women to Watch list. In February of this year, Lee joined with Sugden to lead the $62 million investment in YieldStreet an investment platform democratizing asset classes previously unavailable to retail investors.

 

YieldStreet and MoneyLion, were recently named by AlleyWatch as two of the largest fintech fundings in New York.

 

Also in 2018, Edison portfolio company ComplySci, one of the fastest-growing providers of regulatory technology for the financial and professional services industries, secured a significant new investment from Vista Partners. The company was recently named to the 2018 Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest Growing Companies as well as the 2019 REGTECH 100.
